A WEEK IN PICTURES
Did you have a pen pal when you were a teenager?
When was it the last time that you wrote and sent a good old-fashioned hand-written letter to someone? I had that pen friend when I was around 15 years old. She was Parisian and had the most beautiful name. She might read this because we’re still connected on Instagram. Salut Aurore! I will never forget the arrival of a new letter or parcel and the excitement that came with it. I loved it. Only ten years later, we had finally met in person - and in Paris. Another 15 years later, I’m living only 2.5 hours faraway from Paris (thank you Eurostar). However, the pandemic stopped any traveling. How am I supposed to visit friends now? How am I supposed to spend my holidays? And how the hell do I meet new people? Somehow (keeping a little secret here) I did get to know someone new. This week, I got reminded that there are creative ways to getting to know someone. It definitely made me smile every single day this week. Instead of a usual reply, my inbox just announced: a week in pictures. Great!
At the end of the day, I found a picture or two in my inbox, took them, and sketched them on my iPad. I had fun with it whilst also greatly switching off from work because there is more to life than just work! Thank you, M., here are the sketches with some comments ;-).
Monday, 8 February
I love huge cactuses. Over twenty years ago, my granny gave me one which is now with my dad. In winter, he makes the coolest Christmas tree out of it.
Tuesday, 9 February
Lazy home office. Are we really lazy when working from home?
I am definitely more productive and that’s why I tested working from home already in January 2020 and just got told off by HR. But then you know … lockdown happened.
Wednesday, 10 February
Trying to find hot coffee in a cold city with -15°C. Let’s have some ice coffee next time.
Thursday, 11 February
Sad Taco Thursday. Not if you eat them with me. I’m not good at the taco eating technique; I make a real mess and look stupid which definitely helps others to smile ;-).
Friday, 12 February
We might be giants on ice skates. Next time I see my dad and he says again “oh you’re getting so tiny” … I take a picture out of my pocket showing me as a shadow giant and reply: I really don’t know what you’re talking about, dad.
